Belvedere is a friendly, family-owned winery specializing in artisanal wines from exceptional northern Sonoma vineyards. Despite distinct differences among microclimates in which Belvedere grows grapes, all of their vineyards are located within a few miles of the winery, an important asset to the Belvedere philosophy. They believe there is something soulful about fruit grown in their own backyard, and proximity to the vineyards means the ability to watch the vines daily, picking the grapes at peak flavor. Since the winery is situated near the joining point of three renowned Sonoma appellations, their winemaker can produce wines reflecting several distinct terroirs.

The Wines
SONOMA COUNTY CHARDONNAY: Comes from two of the most revered grape growing sites in California, the Alexander and Russian River Valleys. Though these two northern Sonoma appellations lie only a few miles apart -- linked geographically by the meandering Russian River -- they represent dramatically different microclimates. The Alexander Valley is warm and fertile, its fruit accordingly plump, ample and round. This wine is a versatile blend, which reflects both of these exceptional microclimates. Excellent grape sources and detailed care in the cellar make this a Chardonnay that belies its price.
CABERNET SAUVIGNON: This Cabernet comes from two revered Vineyards, one in the Dry Creek Valley, the other in Alexander Valley. Fruit from the wineries Dry Creek vineyards provides structure and elegance, along with hallmark aromas of cassis, black tea and mountain herbs. While fruit from their vineyards in Alexander Valley add luxurious flavors of cocoa, black cherry and smoky-sweet spice. Together they make a Cabernet Sauvignon that is an excellent example of an exceptional terroir.
MERLOT: A blend from the wineries two best Merlot vineyards, one in Dry Creek Valley, the other in Alexander Valley produces this wine that showcased the complexity of Dry Creek Mountain fruit, while maintaining a smooth, silky finish while young. The soft style and rich aromatics of this Merlot make it one of our favorites. You will be surprised by the generosity found in this wine.
SYRAH: The grapes for the Healdsburg Ranches Syrah come from two hillside vineyards in northern Sonoma County – their Rockaway Vineyard, 900 feet above the valley floor in the Alexander Valley, gives deep jammy fruit reminiscent of blueberry pie and homemade raspberry preserves. The balance of the fruit comes from their Bradford Mountain Vineyard in Dry Creek Valley. Here rugged volcanic soils and high elevation give the wine backbone and breed, with characteristic hints of wild spearmint, carob and coffee.
