The Wines
Chenin Blanc -
blossoms, this aromatic sipper will give you spring fever! Round mouthfuls of honeydew and cantaloupe melons give this wine some weight, though it remains crisp and refreshing. The fruit basket in your glass includes green apples and pineapples, and a touch of apricot to lace the finish with softness. Good, bright acid will allow the wine to pair well with cheeses, spicy Asian foods or other light fare.
Sauvignon Blanc - Always classic in style, Bogle's Sauvignon Blanc was cold fermented in 100% stainless steel tanks to maintain its varietal character: crisp and vibrant with notes of citrus. A blend of fresh cut spring grass and lime assaults the nose, while a depth of mouthfeel at the entry and mid-palate balances this crisp acidity. Lemon and pineapple fruit compliments the clean, refreshing finish. This is the perfect sipper for a spring or summer day, or to pair with appetizers or fish, shellfish and light, spicy foods.
Merlot - Developed and intense fruit, a full-bodied merlot with deep cherry fruit that hits both the nose and palate upon the first sip, followed by soft hints of summer anise. Touches of pipe tobacco and spicy oak lend weight to the finish, trailed by firm, assertive tannins. Enjoy this wine with a wide range of food: from pasta to hearty meat dishes, or of course, all by itself!
Petite Sirah - First produced in 1978 by the Bogle family, Petite Sirah is considered Bogle’s “heritage” varietal. On the nose, luscious boysenberry teases you along with touches of black pepper and herbs. Trademark inky and jammy tones fill the mouth with ripe fruit and berries. The voluptuous finish lingers with toasty oak and lush fruit. The firm tannins make this a wine that can develop for years to come, but you won’t want to wait that long to enjoy it! Try this unique wine with rich meat dishes of lamb, pork or game and their hearty sauces.
Cabernet Sauvignon - Cabernet Sauvignon is a grape that takes its own sweet time, slowly lingering to ripen on the vine. We are rewarded by its reluctance. Ripe, bright cherries open up on the palate, with a hint of dried herbs and eucalyptus nestled among the fruit. Fourteen months in American barrels produced a well-integrated profile of spicy oak and rich tobacco. Firm but forgiving tannins leave a most welcome finish after each sip.
Pinot Noir -
The cool coastal breezes of the Russian River appellation produce some of the most widely-acclaimed Pinot Noir grapes. A wine of structure and finesse, floral aromas of crushed rose petals and violets are welcoming and inviting. Dense fruit flavors of black cherry integrate with moderately toasty oak overtones. The lingering impression on the palate is one of firmly weighted fruit with a soft, silky finish, echoing with touches of pipe tobacco and earthy leather. This wine is elegance with accessibility.
Old Vine Zinfandel -
Head-trained, dry farmed old vines are again the source for Bogle’s Old Vine Zinfandel. These gnarly old vines produce concentrated fruit of unsurpassed quality and intensity. This supple and mouth-filling vintage leads with juicy blueberry and ripe blackberry fruit. Black pepper and deep cedar notes integrate well with this soft, plush body. Subtle hints of spicy oak and pipe tobacco create structure, allowing this wine to stand up to a variety of fare. This is the perfect wine to pair with everything from rich sauces and unique dishes, to your favorite weeknight take-out.
Phantom - Petite Sirah - Zinfandel - Mourvèdre
bogle n . [Scots, perhaps from Welsh] A goblin; a specter; a phantom; a bogy, boggart or bugbear.
It’s back….the blend of black magic from Bogle winemakers. Three unique varietals combine lush berry and fierce spice into a full-bodied wine. Concentrated and intense, this deep ruby apparition begins with ripe cranberry and cherry notes on the nose and palate. From the deep dark depths, notes of spicy cinnamon and sweet vanilla emerge, only to ebb away stubbornly, with hints of pipe tobacco. Though this wine is remarkable now, age in the bottle will only integrate the three distinct varietals more. Welcome the winery ghost into your home again with this latest vintage, and enjoy with full-flavored and hearty meals…before it vanishes again.
