Hold on to summer beyond the Labour Day weekend with this wonderful rosé. A perennial favourite of Vintages' customers, it's also a terrific value and so beautifully packaged it will keep you in the pink.
Tasting Notes: Pink-orange color. Strawberry, mint and a whiff of licorice on the nose. Juicy and fairly dry with good intensity and attractive floral lift. Finishes brisk, dry and firm, with good grip. Try this with roast turkey.
MULDERBOSCH CHARDONNAY 2003 Product #717090
A Wine Spectator review of the 2003 was not yet available at press time. However, each of the previous three vintages has been rated a consistent 92 points out of 100.
Tasting Notes: Forward but not showy creamy lime attractions. Ripe, mouthfilling persistence firmed by touches [of] toasty oak, refreshing minerally acid. Will benefit from a year or two [in cellar]. Score - **** (out of 5). (Angela Lloyd, John Platter South African Wines 2005)
MULDERBOSCH SAUVIGNON BLANC 2004 Product #933424
Lean and racy, with tightly wound lime, chive, chalk and sweet pea notes that will need some moderate cellaring to fully unwind. Crisp, chiseled finish is really mouthwatering. Drink now through 2006. Score - 91. (James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, Dec. 15, 2004)
MULDERBOSCH 'FAITHFUL HOUND' 2002, Product # 922443
This wine, the crown jewel of winemaker Mike Dobrovic's portfolio, has achieved a cult status. The 2002 is a blend of 42% Merlot, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, filled out with small amounts of Malbec, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Act quickly as the 'faithful', who have been waiting patiently for the latest vintage, will be sure to sniff it out.
